How to Clean Fabric Car Seats

Required Items:

  1. Cleaning solution spray designed for fabric (NOT an all-purpose cleaner)
  2. Interior brush (soft or medium-stiff bristles, NOT a stiff carpet brush)
  3. Microfiber towels
  4. Enough time for the seats to dry before driving the car anywhere
Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Vacuum the seats before you begin.
  2. A lint roller or special pet hair removal tool may come in handy if there is a lot of pet hair on the seats.
  3. Lightly spray the cleaning solution onto an area you want to clean, but do not use too much cleaning solution. This can lead to mildew. It is also recommended that you leave the door or the windows open when you do this.
  4. Use the interior brush to massage the cleaning solution into the fabric.
  5. When you begin to notice suds, use the microfiber towel to remove them. You do not want the fabric to dry before the suds are removed.
  6. Continue this process until the area is clean, then move on to the next section until you are satisfied with the condition of your seats.
  7. To help the drying process, you can vacuum the seats once again. Do not use the car until the seats are dry.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Before you begin, take a look at your owner’s manual. You will want to check if there are any products the manufacturer recommends not to use.
  2. Carefully vacuum the seats to get rid of any dust and debris. This should be done gently to avoid any scratches on the leather upholstery.
  3. Spray your leather cleaner on the microfiber towel to wipe the seats clean and remove surface dirt and oils.
  4. Spray cleaner onto the seats. You will want to avoid this and spray the cleaner directly on the brush if you have perforated leather seats. Use the brush to lightly clean the surface.
  5. Wipe the seats using a clean and dry microfiber towel.
